Conditions of Use
The applicant agrees to send the Society one complimentary copy of the work containing the reproduction.
The society retains all rights to reproductions of photographs including the right to grant others permission to reproduce the photographs. Additional copies must be purchased from the Society. The photographic copy or any facsimile of it may not be reproduced beyond the intended use described in this agreement.
All negative and transparencies remain the propery of the Nevada County Historical Society.
Altering the original photographic image beyond standard cropping or resizing requires further discussion with Staff. These changes must be indicated in the accompanying caption or label.
The photographic copy may not be used as a dust jacket, an end paper, nor in an advertisement or any commercial or promotional use of a similar nature, nor to mass reproduce as unbound material unless specifically authorized by this contract.
In authorizing the publication of a photographic copy, The Society does not surrender its own right to publish it, or to to grant permission to others to do so. All rights are non-exclusive.
Rights are offered for a maximum period of ten years. The Society does not issue rights in perpetuity.
The Society reserves the right to limit the number of photographic copies; to restrict the use of reproduction of rare or valuable material involving unusual difficulty in copying; and to charge a higher copying fee than specified. Copies are not supplied to commercial picture agencies except by special arrangement.
Credit Information
The publication must properly credit the Searls Histsorical Library, The N.C.N.G.R.R.Transportation Museum or other Society operated facility. Credit should appear in close proximity to the image or in a a special section devoted to credits. The preferred credit line is:

Catalog numbers must appear either near the illustration or at the point of credit. Crediting individual items is mandatory.
Credit should be incuded with other Sources of Illustrations in film or viedo publicationsResolution of reproduction distributed electronically should not be greater than 72 dots per inch or 640 x 480 pixels.
Credit for images used in exhibitions must appear within the exhibition area.
